Darryl Rehr

25 Years in TV News

I began my career as a director of "Action News" in 1972 at WLYH, Channel 15 in Lebanon, PA. I had been one of two winners of the National Scholarship presented to college seniors by the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE), and my contacts with this group led to my first job.

From there, I moved up in markets to WJZ-13-Baltimore and WBZ-4-Boston, where I held positions ranging from producer to executive producer to special projects producer.

After a season directing segments for the syndicated You Asked For It in the early 80s, I relocated to Los Angeles, where I worked for the syndicated service NIWS before moving on to a staff position as segment director at Entertainment Tonight.

Over the years, I have freelanced as writer or producer for most of the major stations in the Los Angeles market: KCBS-2, KTLA-5, KCAL-9, KTTV-11, KCOP-13, as well as the national news outlets Fox News Service, Fox News Channel and CNBC.

I was honored to work on the Peabody Award-winning team that covered the Rodney King Trial gavel-to-gavel at KTTV.

I also produced national daily courtroom coverage of the entire O.J. Simpson Criminal Trial for Fox News Service.

I subsequently produced national daily courtroom coverage of the O.J. Simpson Civil Trial for the CNBC show Rivera Live.

My news credits include two Emmy awards, Hatch and UPI awards for various projects.

In 1998, I moved into full-time production of long-form documentaries.
